Panorama has tonight "exposed" Mr Taranissi for offering risky and unproven treatments. I posted a comment on the BBC Online forum which prompted a call from one of their journalists: BBC NEWS - Defending the IVF doctor.
Obviously, having 2 lovely children as a result of his treatments, I am hardly unbiased, but I would urge everyone to watch the unedited interview with Mr Taranissi. It's an hour long but even a watching a few minutes will, I suggest, convince you of his sincerity, notwithstanding any legal/compliance issues.
Georgina was very knowledgeable about these things and I know she would be horrified. She was always particularly critical of Prof. Robert Winston.

I'm biassed too. Two daughters thanks to ARGC.
The one-sided reporting in this programme makes me weep for BBC journalism.
Why did we never hear that Dr Taranissi was in legal dispute with HFEA about whether he had in fact been granted a license?
Why did the programme imply that RGI was used to massage ARGC's figures when the majority of patients at RGI were over 37 and would not have been counted in the main success measure?
Why was Dr Taranissi not provided with full recordings of the undercover reporters?
Is it true that the BBC sent in other reporters whose consultations were perfectly normal but these were not reported
in the programme?
Why did the programme imply that IVIG was a fundamentally wrong treatment when the HFEA guidelines state:
"There is no conclusive evidence to show that these treatments are either beneficial or ineffective. However, some doctors genuinely believe that they offer benefits for their patients, and they are doing nothing wrong in providing such tests and treatments."?
Why did the programme attack Dr Taranissi for not conducting proper clinical trials of IVIG when by his unreported testimony attempts to organise such a trial failed due to the inability to obtain participants?
Why did the programme include the statement "Couples in the UK need on average 4 cycles of IVF. At these prices treatment at ARGC would cost over £20k" yet with a success rate of over 50% couples at ARGC would NOT need an average of 4 cycles?
Why did we not hear that one of the so called experts runs a clinic with a success rate of only 15.7%?
Why did we not hear that another expert was the medical director of a clinic that was shut down after embryos were implanted in the wrong women?
And why is this the only expose programme I've ever seen where they couldn't show a single victim of the supposed malpractice?
